Zurich has a number of great chocolate shops. One of our favourites is Confiserie Honold.
They have an extensive selection of truffles which are a delight to taste. As well as the classic dark, milk and while chocolate truffles they also have quite a few nut based ones (the Marzipan one is delicious) and quite a lot of alcoholic truffle. “Honold Traube” is a whole Regina grape (not raisin) which has been mascerated in cognac for a full 12 months before being ready for your delectation.
However, the best selling Truffle of all is “Lottis Best” which is layers of nougat, combined with tonka bean and a touch of fleur du sel, all covered with dark Venezuelan chocolate with a final flourish of edible gold dust. Don’t forget to try it when you next pass by!
Have you ever been to a “Salon du Chocolat” Event? If you love chocolate this is an unmissable calendar event? Not only do they showcase the range of chocolate shops and chocolatiers in your town or country, but also the latest innovations and techniques in the chocolate industry.
You get to learn about new chocolate developments – and most importantly you get to taste many of them too! You also get to meet extremely knowledgeable specialists in the field of chocolate – chocolate vendors, producers and you hear about the latest trends in the industry. They can tell you about the provenance of their beans, why they have chosen their designated producers and what makes their chocolate special.
The highlight is always the Chocolate Fashion Show – a great event combining high fashion with chocolate – what a great combo! Key designers team up with leading chocolate companies to produce stunning chocolate designs. Dresses good enough to eat!
